From Cruise Port: Akaroa-Christchurch
Your tour starts from right next to the jetty in Akaroa Village. From here it is a 90 minute drive into the city, along the way marvel at rolling hills, mountains, lakes and picturesque villages.
Upon arrival in Christchurch you will have a small amount of time to take in 'The Garden City'. See the Botanic Gardens and historic Canterbury Museum and Arts Centre buildings. Your guide will show you around this rebuilding city - the centre of which was nearly almost completely destroyed in the devastating earthquakes of 2010/11. See the remains of Christ Church Cathedral, and learn about how the people of the city survived through tough times.
Upon leaving the city we will travel out to one of the Canterbury regions famous braided rivers. These rivers are often just a few centimetres deep - but that is still enough for a jetboat ride!
Invented in New Zealand, jetboats are a high-speed thrill which thousands of people enjoy every year. Extremely safe, and extremely fun, feel the breeze rush past your face as you enjoy the beautiful New Zealand countryside. Your driver will even do a few high speed spins to add to the excitment.
After your jetboat trip, sit back and enjoy the coach ride back to Akaroa. We will have you back in plenty of time to catch the tender to the ship.
